AutoArchive - Error while archiving folder "Top of Information Store"
Full error: Error while archiving folder "Top of Information Store" in store "*** Email address is removed for privacy ***" You are attempting to archive your data to a Outlook 97-2002 data file (.pst) which is a non-unicode data file. To preserve multilingual data, you must choose a Unicode data file, such as the outlook data file (.pst).

Configuration

User running on Windows Server 2008/Office 2010 has been getting this error since being setup with email a few weeks ago. It's a new profile. The Outlook configuration is set so the Exchange mailbox is the default and autoarchive runs every day to move items from the mailbox to an archive.pst.

Things I've tried

The .pst file was created new with Outlook 2010. I even created another new one and migrated everything over, ensuring it was not in the older 97-2002 format. But she continues to receive this message.

I have viewed the contents of "Outlook today" on the mailbox and there are no emails there (in case user somehow was able to move an outlook item to the root of the information store.

And also have tried recreating her 2008 profile (even though it was already new).

I am lost! Any ideas?

Hi,

Generally, there is no "top of information store" and "Outlook today" folder visible in Outlook 2010. I suggest we can close Outlook and create a new Outlook profile in Control Panel to setup your mailbox account to have a try. Please follow the article below to set up account:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/829918

Additionally, the AutoArchive is an Outlook feature to move the old items to a local PST file. It is not related to Exchange server. If a new profile in Outlook can't resolve the issue, I suggest we can ask a question in Outlook forum for more help:

Hi yes, I have recreated the user's profile, for both users having this issue. Did not help. I also created a brand new Outlook data file and migrated all the data to it - did not help.

I had previously posted in the Outlook forum - see this post http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/office/forum/office_2010-outlook/autoarchive-error-while-archiving-folder-top-of/be5de9c3-173d-4435-9df0-4201ca647650?tm=1437158567104

and was direct to this Exchange board instead.

Any other ideas?

Customer is still experiencing the issue daily and auto-archive is not working.
